In mijn houtskooltekeningen is het landschap nooit het landschap an sich, toch niet als zuivere representatie daarvan. Uit-hun-context-gerukte landschapselementen dienen als bouwstenen voor een fictieve wereld waarin objectivering en romantisering elkaar raken.
